New Sponsorship Deal With Surfers Alliance

Beach Volleyball Gold Coast is very happy to announce the signing of a 3 year deal with Surfers Alliance to bring back Beach Volleyball to this iconic beach.

Beach volleyball is making a triumphant return to the place where the sport made its name in Australia, in an unprecedented move by Volleyball Queensland.

Surfers Paradise Beach has been announced as the location for the Queensland Beach Volleyball Series from 2011 through until 2014.

Volleyball Beach Sports Managing Director Brett Richardson said it’s the first time the Series would be held predominately in a single location.

“Up until now, each Round has been held in a different Queensland location but we believe Surfers Paradise Beach is going to be the ideal venue for the Series moving forward,” he said.

“We had some involvement in the foreshore redevelopment, including the beach volleyball courts, and we knew that the redevelopment was going to produce something very special and we wanted to be a part of it.”

The now defunct National Beach Volleyball Series had previously been held at Surfers Paradise Beach for more than 10 years, and Mr Richardson described today’s announcement as the ‘homecoming’ of the sport.

“Surfers Paradise is the home of beach volleyball in Australia,” he said.

Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Mike Winlaw said the organisation was keen to secure the Series as part of its new event strategy.

“There is no doubt beach volleyball is a major attraction for both residents and tourists and we are extremely pleased to welcome the Queensland Beach Volleyball Series to Surfers Paradise,” he said.

“We’re working with our businesses and traders to ensure the crowds will be catered for on all levels, at an event which is going to be momentous for the precinct.”

The Rounds which Surfers Paradise Beach will be hosting are as follows:
